Measure Twice, Quote Once – What to Expect with Trinity

Thinking about adding a fence, deck, or outdoor structure? 🛠️ Whether it’s your first project or your fifth, knowing what to expect from the estimate process can save time, stress, and even money. At Trinity Fence & Deck, we believe the quoting experience should be just as solid as the finished product-clear, honest, and built to last.

Father and son smiling in backyard with overlay text: We Start with Trust – What to Expect from Your Quote, Trinity Fence & Deck.

🛠️ Step One: Let’s Talk Details (Yes, Even the Chickens)

When you fill out our contact form, we ask for a few basics-your ZIP code, phone number, and a quick description of your project. Whether you’re planning a privacy fence, replacing an old gate, or dreaming up a deck for family cookouts, we’re all ears. 🐶🐔👶

We’ll follow up by phone or text to confirm what you’re looking for and schedule a time to walk the property. Got a timeline or budget range? Let us know-we’ll keep it in mind as we shape the right plan for your space.

Check out our post on fencing for the whole dang family if you’ve got pets, littles, or backyard chickens in the mix.

📏 What Happens During the Estimate

One of our team members – we’ve been doing this for over three decades – will come out to:

We’re not just pricing boards-we’re planning your backyard’s next chapter.

And here’s something our customers will love and appreciate: In many cases, we can create a CAD-style visual rendering on-site, using a photo of your actual space. 🖼️ You’ll get to preview where that fence line could run, or how a deck might frame your yard-right there during the visit. It’s personal, it’s fast, and it helps make the vision real.

📄 What You’ll Get Afterward

We’ll send you a comprehensive estimate that clearly lays out:

  • Scope of work
  • Materials and layout
  • Estimated timeline
  • Total project cost, with no surprise line items

But here’s the thing-quotes can vary wildly from one company to another, and cheaper isn’t always better.

🍎 Apples to Apples: Not All Quotes Are Built the Same

Some companies handwrite a number on the back of a business card. Others offer a low price, then add fees later. At Trinity, we believe in transparency from the get-go.

Here’s what to watch for when comparing quotes:

  • Post depth and spacing – Stability matters 🪵
  • Type of materials – Not all “cedar” or treated wood is the same
  • Fasteners & hardware – Galvanized? Stainless? Big difference
  • Warranty or workmanship guarantee – Always ask
  • Cleanup and haul-away – Included, or a hidden extra? 🧹

We’re happy to walk you through your Trinity quote line-by-line-and if you’ve got another estimate you’re unsure about, we’ll help you compare it fairly. No pressure. Just clarity.

🌱 Paperless, Stress-less, and Still Personal

Trinity is a fully paperless company, which means your estimate, approvals, and scheduling all happen digitally-easy, clean, and efficient. 💻 That also means less waste, which we kinda love. We’ve got deep respect for the trees we don’t have to cut down-especially the ones that make a fence line feel like home.

But don’t worry-if you’re more of a paper-in-hand kind of person, we’ve got you. We’ll print what you need, walk you through it, and make sure you’re 100% comfortable.

Whether you’re all digital or a little old-school, we meet you where you are.

📬 Ready to Get Started?

We serve homeowners across Georgetown, Round Rock, Leander, Cedar Park, and the surrounding Austin area—and we’d be honored to build something just for you.

👉 Contact Us for your free estimate. 💰 Be sure to mention this blog post for $100 off any project over $2,000 when you sign your estimate on the same day!

🐮 Reb’s Roundup: Estimatin’ Without the Guessin’

Reb the Trinity longhorn mascot tipping her hat with a pencil behind one ear, standing beside a notepad that reads “Estimate Time!” in bold. Behind her is a sketched fence line and toolbox, giving a nod to the planning process. The vibe is cheerful, trustworthy, and ready to measure twice and build right.

Well that’s the lowdown, y’all! Whether you’re buildin’ somethin’ brand new or finally replacing that leanin’ fence out back, Trinity’s quote process is designed to give you peace of mind from the very first step. We’ll show you what’s possible, lay it out plain, and walk the fence line like it’s our own backyard.

No guessin’. No gimmicks. Just good folks and great fences.

Some wins show up on a scoreboard.
Some wins walk beside you in a parking lot after the game. ❤️

Wednesday evening was both.

🏀
A buzzer beater in overtime.
Old friends on the other bench.
A former school.
Big emotions. Bigger memories.

But as we walked back to the car, what stood out most wasn’t the shot, it was this view. 💕

Little hands. Growing kids. Tired legs. Full hearts.
This is our why.

Family is the reason we work long days.
It’s why we build something of our own.
It’s why we care about doing things the right way, with character, work ethic, and pride in every detail, because the people walking beside us are watching.

At Trinity, we’re not just building fences and decks.
We’re building a future for these kiddos.
We’re building security, opportunity, and something our kids can be proud of someday. After all, they’ve grown up in fence culture.

Moments like this remind us.
The real victory isn’t just the game.
It’s getting to walk through life together.

This is who we work for. Always. ❤️

Two weeks old and already the calm (and balm for the soul) in the middle of a very full season 💕

With this frigid weather keeping everyone home, life has slowed down just enough to soak in moments like this. A brand new sleeping grandbaby, kids home from school for an extra day (or two!), schedules paused for a second - and a reminder that even in the busiest, most stretched seasons… these are the moments that matter.

Right now we’re balancing a lot.
Starting a new business together.
Kids across multiple schools.
Sports seasons, practices, pickups, drop-offs, games, tournaments, senior year, kinder year.
And walking through a season that’s asked more of us than we ever expected.
Real life. Real responsibility.

Some seasons refine you. They stretch you, grow you, and teach you what you’re really made of. And in the middle of it all, we’re choosing to build our business the same way we build our family - with honesty, integrity, and hard work.

Because one day these little ones will look back and see how we handled the hard seasons. That example matters more than anything we could ever build. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to work alongside my husband, one of the most hardworking men I’ve ever known.

And this sweet girl? She is just one of the many reasons behind every long day and every step forward. And holding her reminds me we’re right where we’re meant to be. 💛

🥶 CENTRAL TEXAS COLD SNAP 🦌

If Buckley Joe is out here… it’s officially TOO cold.

Meet Buckley Joe - local stag, part-time fence inspector, full-time “shouldn’t be outside right now” representative.

Georgetown, Austin, and all of Central Texas are dealing with:
❄️ Freezing temps
🌬️ Brutal wind chill
🌨️ Icy conditions moving in

Even Buckley Joe looks like he’s questioning his life choices.

It’s too late for big prep - now it’s about staying safe.

🏠 Best plan? Stay home if you can.
Warmth > errands
Safety > schedules

🚗 If you have to go out:
• Drive slow and leave extra stopping room
• Watch bridges & overpasses for black ice
• Keep blankets and a phone charger in your vehicle

Your fence and deck are built Texas-tough…
but this weather still deserves respect.

Take a cue from Buckley Joe - find shelter and ride it out.

⏳ 2 weeks is standard. 4 weeks is JANUARY. 📆

Most fence and deck quotes expire in 14 days.
👉 All January long, we’re extending ours to FOUR full weeks.

That means:
✅ More time to review
💰 More time to budget
🗓️ More time to plan-without pressure

If a fence or deck is on your list this year, January is the smartest time to get your numbers locked in.
